The Healing Power of Nature

If we’re going through or recovering from trauma or stress, life can feel overwhelming and like “too much” to handle. As a coach for willpower and empowerment, I’m familiar with many ways to heal, and one of the most highly-effective and inexpensive methods is nature. In today’s article, we’ll take a look at very simple ways to allow ourself to quietly heal with the power of nature and restore tranquility to our souls.

Rise Above Resistance

When we’re up against resistance, it may feel like trying to move through a gale-force wind and getting nowhere. Have any of us been in a hurricane or strong storm with whipping winds? What about in our personal life? Were there times when we did all we could to try to move through the windy words and stonewalling of someone else’s resistance to our ideas or ways, yet we got nowhere?

What Is Holy Leisure?

Whether your week has been extra challenging or par for the course, Sundays can be a restorative day of rest. For me, the healthiest way to “power up,” take a “rest from stress,” and reconnect to truth, love, beauty, and joy is through holy leisure.

Overcoming Abandonment

If we feel or believe that we’ve been abandoned by someone we love, the loss and grief that we experience may be so intense that we might dive into distraction, protection, or both. Whether we seek solace in drink, food, drug, work, gambling, sex, the nearest quiet cave, or something else, these types of choices are like a Band-Aid on a chainsaw wound. They don’t cover or heal us, and they leave us open to further injury and infection.

Learning Without Words

Some infinitely wise beings have given us glimpses into the power of learning without words. It is written, that Jesus spent forty days alone in the desert and received messages from God. Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment while meditating alone under a tree. Mohammed lived in a cave, where it is written that he received messages from the Angel Gabriel. And the spiritual teacher Sadhguru said, “If you have the opportunity to sit with a spiritual person, this is not the time for questions. Just be with them, and an exchange will occur.”

A Walk with Cat Fantastic

Today’s article shares stories and lessons from my kitty-cat, Caviar. I’ve met a lot of people who either have negative thoughts about cats, or don’t know much about them. Even my Cuban brother, Angel, came from a cultural upbringing that defined black cats as bad luck. However, his cultural prejudice did a 180 after he came to live with me and my black cat, Caviar.
