About the hike, waterfall and optional swim:
This experience will be a total of six hours and consist of an intermediate-level hike with some hills and rocky terrain. The first three hours of the hike are mostly shaded. Half-way through, a one-hour break at Abrams waterfall allows us to soak up some optional sun, swim in the refreshingly-cool pool and enjoy a snack if we bring our own. Regardless of whether we take a dip in the pool, be prepared to get wet from the river, and sweaty from the walk. The return hike of three hours is also mostly shaded and will culminate in a 25-minute drive back to the Dancing Bear Lodge & Appalachian Bistro, where we will dine on a delectable meal on the relaxed, outdoor patio.

What to wear and bring:
Wear sunscreen, comfortable cotton or linen clothing (shirts, shorts or pants), waterproof hiking boots/shoes or waterproof hiking sandals, hat if preferable. Wear a backpack to carry water.
Wear a swimming suit if you are an excellent swimmer and wish to take a dip in the pool below the waterfall.
Dinner afterwards:
We’ll relax and enjoy a casual patio experience and five-star dinner at about 5:00 p.m. at the charming:
Dancing Bear Lodge & Appalachian Bistro
7140 E Lamar Alexander Parkway, Townsend, TN 37882
